Privacy Policy — AMA Internal ECW Extension

This extension is an internal tool for American Medical Administrators (AMA) staff. It helps a user open a specific patient's Patient Hub inside their already-open, already logged-in eClinicalWorks (eCW) browser tab, so they do not have to search for the patient manually.

What data the extension handles

A patient identifier (the eCW internal patient id / account number) is passed from the AMA platform tab to the eCW tab, purely to tell eCW which patient's Hub to open.

Where the data goes

• The patient identifier travels only between two tabs in the same browser on the same device, via the extension's background service worker.
• The extension does not send any data to the extension author, to any analytics service, or to any third-party server. It makes no external network call of its own.
• All Protected Health Information (PHI) shown afterwards is loaded by eClinicalWorks directly, over the user's existing authenticated eCW session — exactly as if the user searched manually. The extension never reads, stores, or transmits that PHI.

Data storage and retention

The extension does not persistently store patient data. The identifier exists only in memory for the moment it takes to open the Hub.

Permissions and why they are needed

• scripting — to run a small function inside the eCW tab that calls eCW's own "open Patient Hub" function.
• tabs — to locate the open eCW tab and bring it to the front.
• Host access to *.ecwcloud.com — to inject that function only into eCW pages.
• Host access to dashboard.clinilytics.com — to receive the "open patient" request from the AMA platform.

Security

The extension calls eClinicalWorks' own in-page functions; it does not bypass or weaken eCW's authentication, session handling, or access controls. A user can only open patients they are already permitted to view in eCW.
